I had stayed at Bellevue (next door to Budavar) in the past, but when Bellevue was booked out, I decided to give Budavar a try. The location is excellent and the views from the breakfast dining area are wonderful. The included breakfast is sufficient with a small selection of meats and cheeses, bread, cereals, yogurt, and coffee. The issue we had was with the cleanliness of the rooms, particularly the bathroom. We found long black hair in multiple places in the bathroom (we have shorter, brown curly hair, so it definitely was not ours). Oddly enough, this situation became worse after we reported the hair to the hotel owner/manager, Viktor, in the presence of his cleaner. We believe his cleaner retaliated by placing more hair as we found even more, and in places we wouldn't expect, after she entered our room again. It sounds ridiculous, but we have no other explanation. The worst part is when we tried to explain the situation further to Viktor via email, he never responded! He never issued an apology or statement that he would look into it. If you care about cleanliness and a cleaner that can be trusted, look elsewhere!

We had a wonderful stay at Budavar Pension in Budapest! The location is perfect — just a short walk to the Fisherman's Bastion, and our room had an amazing view of the Hungarian Parliament, especially beautiful at night. Our host Viktor was incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were neat, clean, and equipped with all the basic facilities, including air conditioning, which was a great plus during summer. Convenient public transport options too — bus stops for lines 16 and 216 are very close by, making it easy to explore the city. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Buda Castle district!

We had a large comfortable room with a balcony. It was quiet and the breakfast was good, yogurt, cereal, coffee, cold cuts, cheese, hard boiled eggs, tomatoes and cucumbers. We think the location is outstanding, just out of the frenetic busy area but incredibly close to fisherman's bastion. Room was comfortable and classy. We think this is way more fun and special than the generic, mass-produced Hilton experience up the hill, although we like those also.
