Although the Citadella was still under renovation when we visited, it was already clear how impressive this landmark is. The panoramic view from the top is absolutely breathtaking, offering a spectacular overlook of a large part of Pest, the Danube, and several iconic landmarks of Budapest. Even with the ongoing works, the atmosphere was enjoyable and definitely worth the climb. I can only imagine how beautiful it will be once the renovation is fully completed. This is a must-visit spot for anyone looking to experience one of the best viewpoints in Budapest.

Amazing view, we climbed up all the way with stairs and it's worth it. So many good vantage points for pictures and viewing. Many benches to have a break. On top there are food and drinks that you can get. Favourite part of my trip!

one of the most beautiful museums ive been to. its cheaper for youth under 26 or students, and its absolutelyyyy worth it. the price comes with an audio guide, which id recommend, as its got wonderful story telling, and tells you some things not included in the texts. its got crazy cool exhibits, with great writing. it talks about the entire history of hungary since the 900s, its formation, in a way that grabs your attention. it is quite a hike up there, but the view and the museum make it worth it.

The Citadel is a beautiful place to visit in Budapest, especially if you want to enjoy breathtaking views of the city. Located high on Gellért Hill, it offers a wonderful panoramic view of Budapest, including the Danube River, the bridges, the Parliament building, and many of the city’s famous landmarks. There is also a coffee shop and an ice cream place at the top, which makes the visit even more enjoyable. You can sit back with a coffee or an ice cream while taking in the amazing view. It is a great spot for photos, a peaceful walk, and seeing Budapest from a different perspective. The view is especially beautiful around sunset or at night when the city lights reflect on the Danube. Definitely worth visiting when you are in Budapest!

What an amazing experience. From the climb to the summit and the spectacular views across Budapest, to the Citadel itself, the statues and the museum, everything is exceptionally well done. The museum is highly interactive, with a perfectly timed audio guide that provides impressive detail throughout. Combined with an outstanding soundtrack that synchronises with the displays, it creates an engaging and immersive experience. The exhibits are thoughtfully presented and hold your attention from start to finish. The use of video, lighting and sound is particularly effective, creating an atmosphere that is both moving and memorable. At times it genuinely gives you goosebumps and conveys a strong sense of Hungary's history and national identity. While the museum does not contain a large number of period artefacts, it does include some, and this should not detract from its purpose. The focus is clearly on helping visitors understand the history of the Citadel, the surrounding area, Budapest and Hungary as a whole, and it succeeds brilliantly in doing so. Genuinely one of the best museums I have visited in a very long time and an absolute must-see when visiting Budapest.
