The Electric museum is closed due to a heatwave warning, only a (very nice) coffee history exhibition is available. The huge disappointment is that they sold us a full price ticket for both, but we found out the museum was closed only after viewing the coffee exhibition, and only thanks to a young man who acted as a translator. There is no sign at the ticket office, nor does the personnel (who can't speak English) warn you. The behaviour of the ticket office deserves a 1 star. I gave 3 only because the coffee exhibition was nice. The opening hours of the two exhibitions differ. Do not come on a weekend.

Could be much better if items were itemized in English so we can get better experience. A lot of items are not functional. Otherwise there’s a lot of interesting machines if you are interested in where the contemporary technology started.

A very interesting exhibition about coffee, culture of drinking coffee, and coffee shops in Budapest. Everything also IN ENGLISH!

Although this place has a great collection of every electronic device from old days in Hungary, and has a beautiful set up to visit, no one is responsible for explaining the devices and how they work. At the same time the transcriptions attached there are all in Hungarian and this combination makes it nearly impossible for a foreigner to understand the story behind each device. This made me upset as I really liked to learn more.

To me this is a fun museum. Edison was my hero when I was a child. This museum has some of his predecessors and contemporaries who were instrumental in developing our current systems. The displays go from early experiments, electrification, appliances, electric trains and telecommunication. Tickets are inexpensive and the staff are very helpful.
