My partner and I wanted to buy a local Hungarian newspaper from Budapest. Accordingly, after our lunch on June 5, 2026 (Friday), we searched for a book shop and this place cropped up on our Google Maps feed. Accordingly, we walked all the way to ‘Írók Boltja.’ Suave, sophisticated, quiet, and handsomely decked up - both of us quite liked the ambience at the place. We ended up buying a newspaper at the end of our sojourn. However, in the process, we also ended up scanning the place in totality. You can never appreciate the culture of a city until you have been to one of its book shops! And, we did exactly that! No wonder that we came back satisfied and happy!

Amazing independent Hungarian bookstore with a beautiful interior, one of the best curated shelf of English literature (even in England itself) Ive seen and spaces to sit while you browse. Bought my third Krasznahorkai novel here and also cannot recommend his work enough.

another great independent bookstore in Budapest. this place has a small collection of English books, and an upstair area for people to sit down and read. i love how Budapest is able to keep these great independent bookstores and their classic vibe, despite this store being located in a very trendy and touristy area.

This is a beautiful bookshop with a long and interesting history. They have a great selection of books - primarily in Hungarian, but on the second level they have quite a few books in other languages (primarily, English, German, and French), as well as translations of Hungarian books. A must-visit place for book lovers
