On weekdays many places serve a napi menü, a fixed-price lunch of soup and a main course, typically from 11:00 to 15:00. Book a table for Friday and Saturday evenings and public holidays. Many bills already include a service charge (usually 10–15%); if not, a tip of around 10% is customary but never compulsory. Many restaurants also accept the SZÉP card, the employer-funded leisure card. At bakeries fresh bread and pogácsa scones sell fastest in the morning, while cukrászda pastry shops are known for classics such as Dobos torte, Esterházy torte, krémes and Rákóczi túrós. Nepszinhaz , a shocking street full of unfortunates, drunk at 7am staggering around . Not for the faint hearted tourist , this Cafe is amazing , if you want a taste of what the natives choose then this is for you. cheap, good cakes & coffee in an unpretentious atmosphere , they also haven't learnt to short change or rip off foreigners which is the usual practice in Canny Budapest. highly recommended.

I really like this place. A gem in the ghetto, a time capsule. A traditional family run patisserie. Good simple and more complex cakes and biscuits. Have a coffee in the morning, they close pretty early. The "kakaóscsiga" is one of the best in the city!
