About Marlou wine bar & store
Marlou is wine bar, store and bistrot located in the city center of Budapest, behind the Opera.Tapas & Bistrot plates market to table. We believe in promoting natural wines from Hungary and from abroad : those that reflects their homeland, made by hand with minimal intervention, and where the winemaker shows maximum respect for the terroir!

Extremely disappointing service! There were two empty tables (one of them already clean), but the waitress refused to serve us and said we would have to wait at least an hour because she was alone. We explained that we only wanted two glasses of wine and weren’t ordering food, but she still turned us away. Being busy is understandable—being rude and making guests feel unwelcome is not. We left immediately and went to another wine bar, where we received a warm welcome. We definitely cannot recommend this place.worst experience in Budapest!

Oh man. What an amazing place. Loved the wines. Went crazy. Had so so many wines. Met the most amazing people. JJ and Napsugar were exceptional. Would love to come back in our next trip.

Great experience. We had not had any luck finding good Hungarian wines, but this place came through for us. Knowledgeable owner who was patient with us as we worked through what we liked and didn't like. We ended up buying a bottle to take home. Definitely recommend this place over a lot of the other wine bars that you may have been recommended.

I had a lovely time at Malu Wine Bar in Budapest. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and they offered a fantastic selection of natural wines. The owner was super friendly and knowledgeable. I’ll definitely be coming back!

What a wonderful experience! I came at 4:30 pm on a Thursday and it was empty so I had the place to myself. It’s a beautiful, and decently large space. Perfect atmosphere for a date night too. I tried two wines- the juhfark and the prosecco 2022. Both were delicious and dry. As for food I had the small trout with fennel (from the daily board) and it was so fresh and delicate. I had the red lentil hummus which was probably the best hummus I’ve ever had! Lastly, I had the Camembert with honey. I’d highly recommend all 3 “snacks” but the cheese only if you’re sharing, or if you really love cheese as it’s a decent portion and very rich. Will be back! 🍷
