Restaurants in Hungary usually open from around 11:00 until about 22:00, while bars and ruin bars stay open much later from Thursday to Saturday. On weekdays many places serve a napi menü, a fixed-price lunch of soup and a main course, typically from 11:00 to 15:00. Book a table for Friday and Saturday evenings and public holidays. Many bills already include a service charge (usually 10–15%); if not, a tip of around 10% is customary but never compulsory. Many restaurants also accept the SZÉP card, the employer-funded leisure card.

According to Google, Nor/ma Grand keeps these hours: daily, 7:00–20:00. It opens every day of the week. It opens on Sunday too, as many restaurants and cafés in Hungary do. Expect changes around holidays such as Christmas Eve, Christmas, Easter and 20 August, and call first if you are making a special trip. The listed phone number is +36 30 240 2907. It is shown in international format with the +36 country code, so it works from Hungary and from abroad alike; within Hungary you can also dial 06 instead of +36. Norma makes a fantastic first impression. The interior is stylish, and all the pastries look amazing in the display. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite live up to the expectations. We tried the pistachio and almond croissants. Both were good, but not exceptional. The fillings relied quite heavily on pistachio/almond flavoring, making the taste feel a bit artificial at times. I’d rate the pastries 4/5. The service was the biggest disappointment. You have to carry your own pastries to the table while the staff only brings the drinks. Despite that, a service charge is automatically added to the bill, and you’re still prompted to leave an additional tip. That didn’t feel justified. The staff also seemed rather uninterested, which took away from the overall experience. I wouldn’t discourage anyone from visiting Norma - it’s still worth trying. But after all the hype and the beautiful presentation, I left feeling slightly underwhelmed.

The atmosphere is very relaxed, and the café is always clean and well organized. The bread, desserts, breakfast, and lunch options are all delicious, with a great variety to choose from. The staff are always friendly, welcoming, and happy to help, making every visit enjoyable. The only small downside is the service charge. Since you have to pick up your own coffee and food, charging a service fee doesn't really seem justified. Other than that, this place is excellent, and I would definitely recommend it.

I used to visit this café every time I came to Budapest. In the past, the quality of the pastries was always outstanding. Unfortunately, the recipes have recently been changed, and the quality has declined dramatically. Instead of mascarpone cheese and pistachios, the croissant is now filled with what seems to be a spread. At the same time, the price has remained unchanged and is still significantly higher than the market average. As for service and atmosphere - everything is good.

Excellent spot for breakfast! The coffee and pastries were all delicious, and it was easily one of the best túrós táska I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this place!

Unfortunately we didn’t have a nice experience here. Food was nice, we tried both, savoury and sweet options both from the menu and from the counter. The staff was the negative side of the experience. I visited the place once with a friend and we were overcharged for stuff we didn’t even order coz the lady at counter just didn’t get our order. When asked to be refunded they made it as a big deal saying that they cannot refund a card payment. Luckily the manager assisted and refunded us in cash. Very unfortunate that you have to check your receipt to make sure you haven’t been overcharged. We gave them a second chance and came back a second time in a few weeks. Same experience: food was very nice, staff were rude and literally had no clue on how service works in hospitality. I am not sure if it’s a language barrier or if they just don’t enjoy working here or in hospitality in general but it would be nice to provide a bit more training at least on how to be more friendly and polite to the counter girl as no other staff on the floor seemed to be rude or mean they were actually polite and friendly and did their best to change our experience in a better one. Thank you heaps to the young
