Its unfortunate when one has to use Medical Insurance while travelling, as it doesn't lend itself to a positive holiday. My mom came to visit with me in South Africa and bought the AXA Medical insurance for her travels. Unfortunately my mom became ill while on holiday and required hospital admission, while it was a bumpy start with the admission process, once mom was admitted and attended to by various doctors, AXA staff couldn't be more helpful. They called almost every day, inquiring after moms welfare. I paid all of moms medical bills and once she was discharged and completed her follow up with the relevant physicians I submitted all the expenses and supporting documentation to AXA. Within a few days the claim was accepted, and I was reimbursed the full amount within 48 hrs, despite the correspondence stating it could take up to 10 days. I know everyones experience is different and unique. Based upon our experience, I highly recommend AXA insurance. Hopefully AXA will allow mom to take out another medical insurance when she chooses to travel.

Useless. You get the biggest package and they are not willing to cooperate or pay back anything. Do not recommend. Will be reporting them to the government agency for malpractice.

I wish I could give 0 stars. My mum had a travel insurance with them to Australia. Since she extended her stay by another two months, we contacted AXA before her original policy expired, asking if we could have a new travel insurance for another two months. We were told they'd get back to us. Never happened. few weeks after that (with mum being in Australia with no cover) we contacted them again, and we got a no as a reply. She could not have a new insurance. You would think that this is business for them, good business since mum didn't even use her first cover. But this was not the case. I emailed them asking for an explanation, never got a single reply. So unprofessional and rude! I wonder what would have happened if we'd actually had to use the cover??! Do they just leave the people in trouble? This is exactly what happened to my mum. In the last two months, she's been staying in Australia with no insurance because AXA decided not to insure her and not even to explain why that is. Get a travel insurance somewhere else, folks. These guys are totally unreliable and dodgy.
