I only attended my Cambridge Proficiency Exams here. The computers were in working order, so the ordeal was over rather quickly. I saw a clean and worry-free working environment prepared for all candidates, and the invigilators were ready to answer possible questions, and seemed prepared to hold the exam. All in all, I had a positive experience here at British Council Hungary.

If you are planning to take the IELTS exam in Hungary, just DON'T. The oral examiner was a frustrated Hungarian woman who spoke very fast and mumbled on purpose. I had to ask back several times because I couldn't understand basic words, e.g. family, relationship. (btw I'm an English teacher, at C2 level) Examiners should articulate clearly! She was utterly unprofessional. The invigilators were Pakistani/Indian/or something similar women, who could not communicate in English well, they mumbled incomprehensibly the exam regulations. The exam was organised in a place where they could not ensure that there was no noise. The keyboards were cheap and low quality, they were terribly noisy and several keys did not work properly. It took me some time to check that all the letters were being entered correctly... Pathetically low quality for a hell of a lot of money. Shame on them.

Unfortunately, my IELTS language exam experience is far from the lowest expectations. Just for clarification, I am an adult who needs this exam for working abroad. I thought that as a widely and internationally recognised language exam, I would face fair and objective scoring, however, interestingly, my speaking part was scored suprisingly low. I am aware of my level of knowledge, and if someone reaches 8.0 and 8.5 band scores in the written part, it is certain that they have also high skills regarding the oral communication. I needed to appeal because I felt disrespected and unfair scoring happened. I needed a certain score in each part for my licence to work abroad. Step zero in the process was to pay the fee. Which is okay, I paid. Suprisingly, my appeal was accepted and in only 2 days, my scores were upgraded. According to their policy, in cases of upgrade I am entitled to the refund of the EOR fee. I expected some kind of communication about this, however it was definitely not that fast as rhe requirement to pay. It was a 3 week long process until the money was transferred back to my account. I wrote several emails to ask for feedback and update of the process, and all I recei

The Exams are a mess and unreliable. I lost points because they messed up the CD for the listening part and therefore we waited for over an hour for them to find it. Then when i reported the problem they brushed me off, in order to avoid dealing with their mistakes. Horrible experience I recommend to do any other Language exams tbh.

Excellent experience. I took the IELTS exam and the staff were professional and the venue was outstanding. I sincerely had a positive experience taking the academic computer-based test.
