This is the train station I always use in Budapest. It’s busy and well traveled. It seems like there are some renovations going on here— it’s starting to improve even more!

A must-see spot for railway enthusiasts and travelers alike. Budapest’s Nyugati Railway Station is not only one of the city’s most beautiful historic buildings - designed by Eiffel’s company in the 19th century - but also a fantastic location for train spotting if you’re interested in Hungarian railway history or want to see a snapshot of the current MÁV vehicle fleet in action. From here you can often see a wide range of locomotives and EMUs: the legendary “Szergej” (M62), the Csörgő (M41), Siemens Taurus, Vectron, Bombardier Traxx, and the modern KISS and FLIRT units by Stadler. With a bit of luck, you might even catch rarities like a Nohab or a steam-powered Bivaly (Class 242). If you’re traveling, Nyugati is also a major transport hub, offering connections to countless destinations within Hungary and across Central Europe. Whether you come for the architecture, the atmosphere, or the locomotives - this station never disappoints.

Great place if you enjoy constant surveillance, random beatings, and zero personal space. Arrived via Combine Rail™ (no snacks on board, 0/10), got greeted by my old buddy Barney—still pretending to be a cop, classic. Almost got whacked by a Civil Protection officer and I had to put some can in the trashbin. Bathrooms? Nonexistent. Security? Too much. Crowbar availability? Severely lacking. Bonus points for Dr. Breen’s creepy face on every screen. Really ties the dystopia together. Would not recommend unless you're into authoritarian regimes and teleportation accidents.

Efficient and central train station. It was very difficult to find the ticket office. If you enter from the main entrance at the street, go all the way to the right past track 17 and to the back. The ticket office is in storage containers. There are a couple shops to purchase snacks and drinks.
