Budapest District XVIII is one of Budapest's 23 districts. Life in the capital moves at a big-city pace: businesses often keep longer hours than in smaller towns, many shops, bars and restaurants stay open late, and nonstop shops serve customers around the clock. The Danube banks, Buda Castle and Andrássy út are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Széchenyi, Gellért and Rudas baths and the ruin bars of District VII draw visitors all year. Public transport is run by BKK, with four metro lines, trams, buses and the HÉV suburban railway; on Friday afternoons and before long weekends the roads out of the city jam up, so leave extra time. In Budapest, BKK passes and tickets can be bought in the BudapestGO app, and parking in the centre is charged by zone, typically on weekdays from 8:00 to 20:00.

Cleaning and maintain would be needed, once this place is a little gateway to people from abroad

15 minutes direct bus (200E) to Ferihegy the airport. Buses leave every 10 minutes. It is possible to buy train ticket at the station from a ticket machine.

Absolute disgrace. For a station meant to serve the international airport of Hungary’s capital, it’s shockingly neglected. The toilet conditions are abhorrent—I took a photo that would probably get flagged if posted here. The “waiting room” is just a container with two benches. It feels like something out of Mad Max, not 2025 in the EU. And while the lack of a direct train to the airport is already disappointing, the fact that the closest station (6 km away) looks and feels like this is simply unacceptable.

The station doesn’t have signs that display your trains on top of the bridge, only at the bottom. This confusing layout makes it far too easy to take the wrong stairs, leading to unnecessary detours and, in my case, missing the train. While waiting for my next train I noticed that two more people got lost at the station due to the poor signage, further proving how disorienting the design is. To make matters worse, the station has hostile anti-homeless benches, which are not only uncomfortable but also make it hard for more than three people to sit down at a time. There is only one shaded bench on each side, which is especially unbearable during the summer months when shade is essential. At least you can buy tickets from automatic ticket machines, which is a small convenience in an otherwise poorly designed confusing station.

Appreciated that the tunnel from the bus to the train was well lit. Lift access working. Limited benches available
