This was a surprisingly awesome art gallery. Obviously the Buda castle was beautiful, so the architecture was great. But we were overwhelmed by the beautiful art. Many were Hungarian and names. We’ve never heard of, but their pieces were ever a bit of quality and craftsmanship and beauty as Monet and all the rest of the impressionist that are famous around the world. Have they not been in the Soviet controlled area they would’ve been incredibly famous. This is a must see gallery and one that we will hit every time we’re in the area.

This is a great museum if you want art without feeling completely exhausted afterward. The collection is beautiful, the building itself is worth seeing, and the whole visit feels much more relaxed than some of the huge museums where after two hours you stop processing what you’re looking at. I especially liked that you can enjoy the artwork at your own pace without that “I need to see everything” pressure. And since it’s inside Buda Castle, the setting is already a big plus. If you’re spending time on the Buda side, I’d definitely include it. Beautiful art, beautiful building, and a very easy museum to enjoy.

We visited the "American Dream" exhibition in Budapest – and I have to be honest: A theme like democracy, presented from a US perspective and funded by them, felt more like propaganda to me. It was cleverly wrapped in the history of Hungarian emigrants, but the political undertone was hard to miss.Still, you have to visit this museum. Why? Because the actual history of Hungary, as told here, is simply fascinating.exhibits themselves are impressive. · From the 11th century to the collapse of the USSR – seeing all of this in one day was much more productive than I expected. No boring history lessons, but vivid historical witnesses. · Fascism and Hungary's liberation from the Wehrmacht – these chapters were especially intense. The presentation is honest, sometimes brutal, but always educational. You can view the "American Dream" exhibition as a political statement – I certainly did. But the museum itself, with its comprehensive collection on the Hungarian nation, is an absolute must-see. If you want to understand Budapest, you can't skip this place.Tiket price reduced for young people .1500Forints and 5000for Adults

The gallery is easy to navigate, with exhibits laid out in a logical manner that allows visitors to explore at their own pace. Once away from the busy entrance and ticket desk area, the museum feels remarkably open, spacious and relaxed, making it easy to spend several hours enjoying the collection. The artworks themselves are excellent, offering a fascinating insight into Hungarian art across different periods and styles. Whether you are an art enthusiast or simply a casual visitor, there is plenty here to appreciate. The on-site café also deserves a mention, serving a very decent coffee and providing a pleasant place to take a break between exhibits. The setting is equally impressive. Housed within Buda Castle and surrounded by some of Budapest's most beautiful historic architecture, the gallery benefits from a spectacular location that enhances the overall experience. A superb museum, well presented, easy to explore and set within one of the city's most iconic landmarks.
