I don't like leaving reviews for these type of places, because of rather see locals only there.. but i am also a tourist, so I'm just perpetuating my own nightmare. Excellent local and traditional place. I guess the same staff for years (maybe 100, who knows), with plenty of character and old school feeling. You can get, i guess, tapas or pinxo style bites here, for very little cost - and a good few other options too. Loved it

Matra Borozó is a hidden gem in Budapest! If you’re looking for a real Hungarian experience, this is the perfect place. They offer interesting local snacks and a great selection of Hungarian wines. We met many local people there, and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and authentic vibe. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Budapest!

A true gem on our last trip. Retro experience in very homely bar, with amazing Mr. Gábor, the owner of this legendary place. Delicious wine, properly pickled hermelín and good selection of interesting finger food, and much more. And all for very pleasant prices. I will definitely return next time I am in Budapest 💜

This is unique experience in Budapest . Here you can try local wine. If you like to sit in a great place with decor, this is not for you. Here you will be sitting with locals, you can order sandwiches which will be made by the same person who is serving your drinks. Best prices and experience is here

a true gem on the map of buda(pest)! the place is small, and the atmosphere is cozy and homely. a hungarian soap opera playing on the tv was the perfect background to our experience. bread and dripping sandwich with lard, a generous sprinkle of hungarian paprika and assortment of pickles and vegetables was deliciously indulgent, so we decided to pick another snack from the humble menu. the small, bite-sized sandwiches tempted us with interesting flavour combinations and i definitely recommend trying a couple of them. just be careful, the one with strawberry jam and chili is indeed very spicy! overall, a must-visit place for people who seek authentic culinary experiences for a very low price
