Budapest District XVII is one of Budapest's 23 districts. Life in the capital moves at a big-city pace: businesses often keep longer hours than in smaller towns, many shops, bars and restaurants stay open late, and nonstop shops serve customers around the clock. The Danube banks, Buda Castle and Andrássy út are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Széchenyi, Gellért and Rudas baths and the ruin bars of District VII draw visitors all year. Public transport is run by BKK, with four metro lines, trams, buses and the HÉV suburban railway; on Friday afternoons and before long weekends the roads out of the city jam up, so leave extra time. In Budapest, BKK passes and tickets can be bought in the BudapestGO app, and parking in the centre is charged by zone, typically on weekdays from 8:00 to 20:00.

My wife and I have bought a few things here from a Dyson vaccum cleaner to a new washing machine. The staff are helpful and professional.

I bought a dishwasher from MediaMarkt and paid 20,000 Ft for their “complex installation service.” They claim this option ensures everything is installed correctly, but the reality was the opposite. The technician spent 5 minutes, simply plugged the machine in, and left. He didn’t check whether the water line was hot or cold, and even connected it incorrectly. When I pointed it out, he said he “cannot do that.” So why did I pay extra if he refuses to do the most basic part of the job? He didn’t run any tests, didn’t check for leaks, didn’t verify anything. I ended up having to redo the entire installation myself. Also, don’t listen to what the workers in the store tell you, they are just trying to upsell you, and in my case, they gave me completely misleading information just to push the 20k service. To make things worse, Whirlpool has a form to fill out for a pack of washing tablets. I filled it out, registered, submitted everything, and received nothing. The whole process feels useless. This experience has been extremely disappointing. Be aware, the installation service is a SCAM, the upselling is dishonest, and the promotions don’t work.

More staff than I was expecting to see, but didn't need any help as I knew what I was looking for. Reasonable selection of electronics.

The go-to place if you need silicon immediately. You might find better deals online and probably from a greater selection too, but here everything is on stock and don't have to wait for delivery.

Not a fair complaint maybe but it is too small for a mediamarkt. Too few options, naturally. I also couldn't get help from the staff for an extended time, it was difficult to get a hold of them. They were eventually helpful when I was about to leave.
