It is always a highlight of my stay in Budapest to visit Szamos at Svabhegy. Yesterday's visit was special as my daughter, granddaughters and their dog accompanied my husband and I. The only downside for me was that I ordered green tea, but when it arrived it was fruit-flavoured green tea, yuk! Still, next time I'm back in Budapest I'll return, maybe just order the lemonade. It looked pretty delicious 😋

The venue, the atmosphere, and the staff are all in perfect harmony—simply a magnificent place. As for the desserts, pastries, and savory treats, there’s no need to comment on their quality; those who know, know. A flawless pâtisserie experience.

Very mixed feelings, premium prices subpar service. And here goes why: We decided to sit in to have a nice snack the day of the biggest snow of 2024. We started to sit down and were still very much in the process of taking our coats off when a waitress came and asked whether we were ready to order. Given that we haven’t even had a chance to look at the menu we kindly asked for a couple more minutes. She came back in less than 2 minutes at which point we asked for more time again, as barely one of us had the opportunity to choose as there was only a single menu on the table. This repeated again with more and more annoyance on her face. After this third time a manager (or definitely more senior) lady came and asked whether we were ready to order. Then we said yes, when she without a single word turned around and left us for 10 minutes. I don’t think I need to point out how inaccessible this whole situation is. Then a waiter came and took our order. He is the only reason ‘Service’ deserves any starts. He was nice and fast. The cakes and drinks were fantastic as usual, but for the premium price point I think I am not wrong expecting premium service.

The atmosphere in the closed terrace is great with Christmas decorations and snow makes you feel very nice and cozy, The coffee, krémes cake and salty bites were delicious, The prices are average I would say (we paid for all what is in the photo around 5k Huf), service was slow though as I have observed only one waiter was working in the whole place, we could find a parking for the car in Prima market parkoló the opposite side of the street

One of the best Szamos in Budapest. Nice garden lovely atmosphere and very fresh sweets. Great place to have a coffee break after long walk trough closeby forest.
