This Baroque chapel was built in 1711 as a gesture of gratitude after a devastating plague epidemic. Despite its modest and simple architecture, it carries deep historical significance. Its quiet presence and rich background make it an interesting little landmark to notice while exploring the area.

The church is a small but cozy one. And I am not sure if the statue outside is part of the church or not.

1711 szeptember 4-én avatták fel a Szent Rókus fogadalmi kápolnát, amely Pest első kápolnája volt a városfalon kívül.

Csak kívülről tudtam megnézni, mert zárva volt, amikor arrafelé jártam, de így is szépnek látom. Több fényképet is készítettem róla, talán azok többet mondanak, mintha szóban írnám le. A kis tér is érdekes előtte. Több objektuma is van,a mit érdemes megnézni.

Interesting fact: on the side of the chapel you can visibly see a "line" that divides light and dark parts of the sidewall. This line shows where the level of water was during Great Flood of 1838. Anyways, nice-looking chapel!

A nice one. Ground floor shows and indicates original street levels of the 18th century. Also, the historical flood of river Danube’s water level of 1838 is marked on a marble table. Very inspiring.

Kapela svetega Roka je v bistvu kapela svetega Frančiška, zavetnika čudežnega frančiškanskega meniha, zavetnika kuge. Leta 1710 je izbruh kuge pomoril veliko ljudi. Nekateri so se pravočasno odselili iz mesta v Pest, kjer od tistega časa dalje še vedno deluje bolnišnica. Med naslednjo veliko epidemijo 1739 se je mestni svet zaobljubil, da bo postavil kapelo v čast svetega Roka in Rozalije.
