Vadregényes ösvények, csicsergő madarak, pihenő kacsák a vízen :) Egy-egy pad a pihenő sétálóknak, ahonnan a naplementét lehet nézni. Szúnyog riasztót feltétlenül kell vinni...

This is the mouth of the Szilas Stream/ Szilas-patak (approximate translation to English - Elm Creek) at Lake Naplás on January 22, 2022. Completely frozen over and dusted with a sprinkling of snow. In milder weather conditions this is a great spot for fishing and bird-watching. It also provides a relatively safe habitat to a sizable European pond turtle (Emys orbicularis) population. Update | July 24, 2022 An ever recurring issue for the creek and the lake is that people release their unwanted pet turtles in these waters especially red-eared sliders (Trachemys scripta elegans) that are not native to the area. Update | December 31, 2025 Below 0°C temperatures have frozen over both Lake Naplás and the Szilas-patak again - a proper winter scene, with the creek’s mouth turning into a quiet, icy inlet.
