About Kiskakukk Étterem

Had the Kiskakukk Plate, which was a really interesting dish and something quite different from what we typically have in the UK, featuring both duck and goose. The duck was very nice, while the goose was more of an interesting experience. Having never tried it before, it’s difficult to describe the flavour, but the best way I could describe it would be somewhere between chicken and duck. The goose liver, however, wasn’t really for me. The texture was very unusual, and I don’t think I’d be rushing to try it again. Overall, it was a good experience and I’m glad I tried something different. If I were to come back, I’d probably stick to a duck dish by itself. The staff were also lovely and made the experience enjoyable.

Absolutely outstanding place to try quality Hungarian food and wine. One of the best meals I had in Europe.

Amazing food, I ordered Foie Gras and crispy goose leg. Above are far beyond my expectation. The waiters are pleasant and helpful, they gave me recommendation to choose food option and the environment are impressive too.

Classical Austro/Hungarian cuisine of good quality. A huge menu with a wide variety to choose from. Also a great list of Hungarian quality wines. In a classical setting, with nice service. I went for the venison with burgundy sauce with potato croquettes and baked apple with a blueberry dressing, and a good red wine as advised by the waiter. No regrets I made this choice. The palacsinta kiskakukk as dessert was a mighty one.

The food here is really good and very reasonably priced. We went twice. Our favourite dishes were the goose leg, the venison, and the goose liver. They were all outstanding. The soups & and salads, on the other hand, were disappointing and not worth the price. What we like about Kiskakukk is the food is up-market, but it is down-to-earth. It's not a pretentious place. The only negative about Kiskakukk was the head waiter. There are many, many....many negative reviews about him on Googlemaps. The younger waiters are all polite and friendly and speak English, but the old head waiter is very rude. He's rude to everyone. I suspect he doesn't even know himself how incredibly rude he is. He's from a different generation.
