Today I want there for health care and was denied of it. I had my insurence but it was of no use. One of the worst places to be if you are a student in budapest.

This could be the worst place for an international student in Budapest!!! 1- the staff are so rude and impolite (most of them). 2- there is no respect for the appointments (consider waiting 15 up to 30 minutes even if you had an appointment). 3- most of the doctors don't speak English. 4- if you are not a European citizen, you might face some racism as well. 5- even for emergencies (if you went there you might not be able to see a doctor). 6- you will be lucky if they picked up to your phone call.

My experience here has only ever been good. Sometimes staff can be a little impatient, but when you listen to how some people treat them, it is not surprising. Morning blood tests can be a bit of a wait despite appointments, but please show me another country where it’s so different. The majority of appointments can be booked online and once registered, it’s not so complicated. Google translate works very well. We have accessed cardiology, blood tests, x-ray, urology and gynaecology. All have spoken adequate or excellent English and been very helpful. I find it easier to access than the NHS in the UK. It’s clear that staff are under a lot of pressure, so a little patience and a smile go a long way. We are treated as we treat others. Sure, sometimes people can be difficult, but that’s life, the challenge is to be better.

If you are an expat like me, your company will probably send you here to your company’s doctor for the yearly medical checkup. Could be different clinics too. So if you are going for your medical check up with the printed paper your company gave to you, you don’t need to go to reception to take a ticket. You go directly to the doctor’s cabinet and knock the door and show the paper. The big disadvantage is that for this thing no apppointment can be taken so if there is a queue then you might beed to wait. It all depends how nice your doctor’s assistant is. Sometimes they will finish all their patients and receive me last (that’s why I am giving 2 stars) so I had to wait a bit. There was another Hungarian girl who had come for same and she told me that it’s just the system here, you need to wait for your turn. For this kind of medical examination they wont give you any appointment you just need to wait your turn. However if the doctor’s assistance is nice she should let you get in first. Just knock the door and try your luck who knows.

The reviews tell everything. My doctor here is a very nice lady, but otherwise the place is horrible. Laboratory tests from 7 to 9, we arrived at 7:15, and finished around 9... One further recommendation if you are a foreigner and you (unfortunately) need to go there: ask a Hungarian speaking person as company, because they don't know a word in English. Once a foreigner guy with some medical papers was waiting about half an hour, and in the end the nurse was yelling and gesturing towards him to come "holnap" - of course she didn't even know the word "tomorrow".
