We visited Line 1 as it is the oldest metro line in continental Europe.

Neither the signs at the entrance nor the reviews here tell us which Metro line(s) pass(es) this station! My bags are heavy. I want to know before going down the steps! Answer: it's for M1 (yellow, Millennium) line only. The entrances on opposite sides of the street go to different platforms - so choose with care! For info, the nearby station at the far end of Deak Ferenc ter (near the Lindt shop) has lines M1, M2 and M3, but another (closer) entrance to the same station apparently only accesses line M2.

Cute old metro in the centre of Budapest. Just few stairs under ground and everything is small

A sweet little station just off Deak Ferenc ter. Reminiscent of old train stations, with a stationmaster's booth right in the middle of the platform. Screeching of trains enhances the time capsule experience.
