Nyugati pályaudvar is one of the three main railway terminals in Budapest, Hungary, located on the Pest side of the city. Built by the Eiffel Company and opened in October 1877, it is a historic architectural landmark featuring a grand iron and glass train shed.

The station is located in the city center, next to tram stops 4-6 and the metro station. Behind the station is a large shopping center Westend. It is a neat and clean place, with good English-speaking staff, I bought tickets very easily. It is an old and beautiful building and is definitely worth a visit.

Very large and comprehensive train station that is organized and clean. Because it is very large it may take you a few minutes to navigate to the correct platform. It is a quite convenient location and you can directly connect to the metro and trams as well.

Nyugati Railway Station is one of Budapest's most impressive historic landmarks and an important gateway to the city. The beautiful station building, with its elegant iron-and-glass structure, has a unique architectural charm that reflects Budapest's rich railway history. It's a busy transport hub with frequent trains, trams, buses, and metro connections, making it easy to travel both within the city and to destinations across Hungary. The station can get quite crowded, especially during peak hours, and some areas could benefit from further modernization. However, its central location, convenient connections, and striking architecture make it much more than just a train station. With shopping, restaurants, and the nearby WestEnd City Center, it's a practical and interesting place to pass through while exploring Budapest.

We took the train from Bratislava to Nyugati. I usually spend some time taking photos of the train stations. I did not find Nyugati that interesting. The facade is mostly obscured by trees. Keleti is much nicer, imo. A few nights later we walked to Nyugati and discovered the somewhat interesting McDonald's with their conveyor belt food delivery system.
