Built between 1725 and 1732, this church is located in Szervita Square (Szervita tér) in Budapest. Although it looks quite ordinary from the outside, its interior is truly impressive. It features a beautiful altars, impressive statues, and walls and ceilings decorated with colorful religious paintings. It is definitely a church worth visiting.

This church has very ornate and beautiful baroque interior and a centre piece that takes up almost the width of the church. This contrasts starkly with the plain exterior from the street. A kindly gentlemen was in the pews welcoming all visitors when we visited. The ceiling has beautiful frescoes. It's only a small church and not a huge cathedral. It's unassuming on the exterior but what a surprise on the inside. History: The present church was built between 1725 and 1732 by the Servite order after the Ottoman period. In the Middle Ages however, there was an infirmary/hospital chapel on the site. During the Ottoman occupation of Pest and Buda (1541–1686), the building was converted into a mosque. After the Ottomans were expelled in 1686, the Servite order received permission to establish a church and monastery there.

Background: It was the Servites completed the church and monastery in 1732, before that, it was an infirmary in the Middle Ages then a mosque during the Ottoman era. During 1867 the tower raised by 12m and the exterior of the church re-modelled. Suffered and severely damaged during the WW2 and reconstructed it. Not it my itinerary list, it was already closed when I passed by here. Surrounded by modern buildings, high-end stores and restaurant The structure and Baroque style is awesome cause it has a single-towered and single nave of building.

Mysterious and captivating church at the heart of Pest. The combination of soft lights and shadows reflected on the charming walls create a unique enigmatic atmosphere ideal for praying. Sitting on the ancient benches around the usual parishioner is a really satisfying experience.
