It was June 6, 2026 (Saturday). My partner and I were at the ‘Budapest-Kelenföld Railway Station’ to catch a train to Vienna in Austria. Truth be told, it was not the greatest of experiences. It was a bit on the messy side. It took us some time to figure out the actual entrance to the station. Also, figuring out the exact platform was a bit difficult. Eventually though, we sort of caught up. However, the station can be significantly developed in terms of the available amenities. Considering the fact that it is one of the four (4) most important railway stations in Budapest, the experience was underwhelming. We were there for about a couple of hours before we trudged out by train. If we ever come back to Budapest, it would be a good experiment to see how developed it would have become by then!

Personal with behavioural issues popping up if one want’s to inquire about the details of a delay. Those people should not be allowed to provide service

Very bike friendly. The station platform access and train access were all bike friendly. Getting off at an older station (Gyor)meant stairs though.

The underpass sometimes can be a pretty brutal, almost surreal experience. Even though it is physically in good condition, it’s constantly filled with shady characters, and the cleanliness often leaves much to be desired. On the plus side, the layout is good, and you can easily grab a quick bite to eat. However, once you come up to the square, you can catch some beautiful views, just see the attached photo!

Some info that may be helpful for international travelers: - the signage in the station isn't the best, but just use the screens to find your platform. The platform numbers may not appear until closer to the departure time (like within 30-45 minutes) - there are also poster boards with all train departure/arrival times with their assigned platform numbers by the escalators. -the staff are not too helpful and have limited English so be prepared for that
