We originally planned to stay in a 10-person dormitory at Zen Hostel in the Central Market. The day before check-in, we contacted their website via WhatsApp to inquire about kitchen availability and cooking facilities. They said we didn't need to book through Booking.com and they would reserve the beds for us. However, on the afternoon of our arrival, WhatsApp messaged us saying there were no beds available. They offered to have a friend arrange a room for us and, as an apology, would upgrade us from a dormitory to a single room free of charge. Because there was no booking platform to supervise us, we were quite anxious, worried about being charged extra, especially since there were no other suitable rooms available in Budapest that evening. Fortunately, everything turned out alright, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise and a fantastic stay. The apartment is located in an old building on Terez Krt., near a tram stop and the Oktogon metro line (Yellow Line 1). The apartment has many bedrooms, and there's a kitchen in the lobby that we could use for free. It was fully equipped with a refrigerator, kettle, toaster, and other cooking utensils and tableware. This Hostel is very nice, clean and close to main attraction in Budapest by walk. The rooms are nice and tidy, actually the cleanest rooms I've ever seen in a Hostel so far, they are also very large. The common areas are nice and clean and full equipped with sofas, books and tables. The kitchen is also fully equipped with every necessary to cook your own food. The staff is very kind and helpful before, during and after the staying. I've had a late check in due to my plane late arrival, and they were super gentle! In general I've been so impressed! My stay felt as comfortable as living at home! Loved it!

My room was changed to another location - Baross utca 11 which was even better as it was close proximity to bus, tram and metro stops. Just 100m from Kalvin ter M. ALDI store downstairs, many restaurants and pubs nearby. Melani at the reception was swey-spoken, helpful and showed around the hostel. A great stay for budget travellers.

My stay at Zen Hostel Central Market was superb. The receptionist Milani is so welcoming, accommodating and helpful. They even have an Xbox 360 in the common room! Lots of fun.
