It’s unbelievable that a company selling luxury products would have an automated message stating that all lines are busy and to call back later—every single time—out of 14 calls made over three days during the business hours listed on their website. All I wanted to ask was whether I could have the temples on my Tipton glasses replaced, and if so, when, where, and for how much. In my opinion, this is unacceptable for a company that manufactures sunglasses costing over 100,000 forints. Are they perhaps on the verge of going out of business? Their suppliers would do well to take note...

I was looking for something else, but found the Cyklo rusty glasses and l, as a collector of vinyl discs, couldn’t say no to them. Reka was extremely helpful and took all the time in the world to answer all my questions and provided top class service. The glasses come with a beautiful case and cleaning cloth. Considering that I don’t lose glasses and that I’ll be able to use tax free, the price is simply fair. I’m just hoping the quality will live up to its reputation. All in all HIGHLY RECOMMNDABLE!

Tipton Eyeworks was a fantastic find during a recent trip to Budapest! Eszter and staff receive my highest enthusiastic recommendation. I had cataract surgery in 2025 and though my vision was improved, I still wanted better correction. I had a vision exam at Tipton to obtain a new prescription (very thorough!) and selected one of the offered Masunaga frames. Amazingly they were able to make the Zeiss lenses and place them into the frames in less than a week! Honestly, in 50+ years of wearing glasses, this experience was tops! Best prescription, frame and lenses all in one excellent business. I do think the Zeiss optical equipment and manufactured lenses resulted in a far superior product! My vision is better than it has been in years. Thank you Eszter, staff and Tipton!

I first read about Tipton Eyeworks in the most recent edition of Fodor’s Budapest guide. I happened to be squinting at the entry at the time and had known for quite awhile that the time had come to swap my readers for a legit pair of glasses. I was in Budapest for work and was about a 15 minute stroll from the shop, so I walked over one afternoon for a full exam and to see whether I was drawn to any of the frames. The exam was comfortable and efficient and the staff were fantastic. Once I had chosen my frames and lenses, I was told that they would be ready in a couple weeks, but they actually ended up being ready only a week and a half later. Eszter then lead me through the process of receiving my tax rebate; I ended up visiting a kiosk in Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam, which was my last stop before leaving Europe. I was back-and-forth for a few months, and came back in for a couple of adjustments, and again Eszter patiently performed the adjustments for me. The glasses are unique (made from a clear vinyl record) and comfortable, they will always remind me of my time in lovely Budapest, and I love them! I’m grateful to the shop for their patience and kindness throughout the process,
