Restaurants in Hungary usually open from around 11:00 until about 22:00, while bars and ruin bars stay open much later from Thursday to Saturday. On weekdays many places serve a napi menü, a fixed-price lunch of soup and a main course, typically from 11:00 to 15:00. Book a table for Friday and Saturday evenings and public holidays. Many bills already include a service charge (usually 10–15%); if not, a tip of around 10% is customary but never compulsory. it was a recomended by ai restaurant on: not a tourist trap, not excessively expensive and serving typical hungarian food. out of three options we chose this, to dine after a cruise with purple lines. Choosing the dishes was not easy as we wanted a light dinner and yet they had many tempting options. finally we settled on a must of a goulash, pork medallion with porcini and a chicken paprikash dish. Do try the Dubicz white wine, really nice one scoring quite high on vivino. Service was corteous and unobtrusive, selections made and quickly delivered. Goulash was as expected, meat and vegetables tender and flavourfull. the pork medallion and porcini was really nice to the pallet, the chicken was well done and melting. only, i guess cultural thing was the egg and pasta dressing to the chicken. all in, a night dinner well delivered. The busker at the peer added that background quality music.

I ate gulasch soup and chicken caesar salad. I think they both costed about 14-15€. And I drank 2 Dreher IPAs. It was about 44,5€ total with service fee and tip. Gulasch was very good. Chicken caesar was ok but maybe chicken could have been more moisture. But I went to this restaurant to eat authentic gulasch soup in Budapest and I got it. Also location is great near Danube river.

Goulash and paprikash were both great. They have a menu in English, and the waiter was friendly and willing to speak in English. Among mostly traditional Hungarian menu items, they also had items with fancy ingredients like foie gras. The use of fragrance in the bathroom was a minus.

Wonderful restaurant between the Fisherman’s Bastion and the Danube River. We ordered the Duck Confit with red cabbage and potato hash, the Hungarian paprika chicken with pasta, a side dish of cucumber salad and a beer. The duck was tender and delicious; the chicken in paprika sauce was out of this world and it paired well with the cucumber salad. The dishes came in large portions. The services were very good and friendly. The restaurant was nicely decorated and made people feel very comfortable. The price is reasonable. Overall a very good value! We will definitely revisit the next time we come to Budapest!

Visiting Vigadó Étterem és Söröző was the culinary highlight of our five-day trip to Budapest! This restaurant offers a refreshingly different kind of Hungarian cuisine, which is absolutely superb. The ambiance felt genuinely homely and welcoming, and the waiters were exceptionally kind and attentive. We particularly loved the dishes we tried: the savory veal tripe and the wonderful baked goat cheese. Everything was flavorful and perfectly executed. With great food and such friendly service, this is, without a doubt, the best restaurant we visited in Budapest. The prices are excellent too! It's slightly outside the main center, but don't let that deter you—it’s worth the short trip. Highly recommended!
