Beautiful place where you can eat the typical hungarian Rétes together with a coffee. It has lots of different fillings and it is located in the heart of Buda.

It's easy to miss this tucked away little gem but it's well worth the find. See my pics of the narrow walkway with stone archway leading to this tiny spot. We tried and loved a cabbage strudel and a sour cherry strudel. We enjoyed it so much that we had to go back to try the poppyseed with cherry, which was spectacular, as was the apple. We were thrilled that we went back for them. Yum!

Very delicious poppy seeds strudel, cheese bombs and coffee. We also tried apple strudel, but is was just ok. Unfortunately, it was very busy and we had to eat them near the car. It would lovely to have few tables.

Hidden gem in Buda area, cozy space, it's great for "to go option". Lovely tasting poppy seed strudel, which I was surprised how it tasted. Recommended to everyone to give it a try. Staff were accommodating.

Budavári Rétesvár is a tiny, almost hidden place tucked away in the Buda Castle area, just a short walk from Fisherman’s Bastion. You can easily miss it if you are not looking carefully, but it is absolutely worth finding. The strudel here is outstanding, and even the hot wine was excellent. We tried the poppy seed strudel and the apple strudel, both were fantastic. I normally do not like poppy seed at all, but this one was truly amazing and completely changed my mind. A small, authentic spot in a beautiful historic location, definitely worth coming over if you are visiting Budapest.
