I am currently visiting Budapest and found a post talking about the cat museum — and as someone that loves cats and that is missing my own babies back home in Canada I knew I had to visit. What an absolutely wonderful way to spend an afternoon — the cats were so lovely and so incredibly friendly. It was also so fun being able to meet some breeds I have never come across before! You can tell the cats are well cared for and loved, which was of course also wonderful to see. What’s better than spending a bit of timing petting cats in the midst of a vacation? Nothing. Thank you for a wonderful break from the hustle and bustle of a busy vacation, and filling the void of missing my own cats!

I saw this museum on so many lists of must-visit locations in Budapest. As a cat lover away from my cats while traveling, this was on my list since I first saw it and I couldn’t recommend it more enthusiastically. Honestly such a joy, such a beautiful little museum and the cats and staff are so lovely and kind. There is a limit on the number of people who are able to visit at once, which is great for everyone’s experience, but make sure you reserve your place in advance. We had to come twice because the first day we didn’t know we had to reserve our spot (our fault, not the museum’s!).

I was very satisfied with the museum and the staff members were extremely friendly. As the owner of four cats myself, I found the atmosphere very pleasant and enjoyed seeing how kindly the staff treated the animals. However, one thing I would like to mention is the intrusive behavior of some visitors, especially children. During my visit, I saw children repeatedly following the cats while their parents simply sat nearby. One of the cats appeared stressed, although it calmed down after a while. I would appreciate it if parents visiting this place paid closer attention to their children and respected the cats’ need for space and rest. Overall, the museum was definitely worth visiting. Thank you to the staff for their kindness and for taking such good care of the cats.

Really fun place for cat lovers! You can walk around freely to learn more about cats. There is an english audiotour available with more information as well, but we mostly just read the information available on the walls. We spent about an hour inside. Fun alternative to a cat café. The highlight of the museum is definitely the resident cats, all of whom are very friendly. We got to pet all of them during our visit! Guests are asked to take off their shoes and wear socks or borrow slippers from the museum. There is hand sanitizer when you enter (after which you are good to greet the cats). A hot drink from the coffee machine was included in our entry ticket.

really lovely and relaxing experience overall! The cats are clearly very well taken care of, they are calm, clean, and seem comfortable in their environment. It’s obvious that their well-being is a priority, which makes the visit even more enjoyable. The space itself is clean and, importantly, there is no unpleasant odor despite the presence of multiple cats. Everything feels well-maintained and hygienic. The staff at the reception were very friendly and welcoming, even offering us something to drink, which was a nice touch. There is also hand sanitizer available at the entrance, which adds to the sense of cleanliness and care. The space is relatively small, so you can see everything in about 30 minutes, but it’s definitely worth it for a short, cozy visit especially if you love cats.
