We were looking forward to this a lot, and maybe our expectations were too high. Some of the exhibits were truly breathtaking, and for them we give it an extra star. But there were many which felt more experimental than successful, and a couple which weren't working. The building has its own history and was amazing. This was a good use of that space, and full marks for that. Highlights: bring inside the tripping balloon, the metamorphosis room and a laser display

The Light Art Museum is definitely an interesting place to visit if you’re staying in Budapest. There are many fascinating exhibits (although I should mention that there were quite a few less interesting ones as well). As I understand it, the exhibits change regularly, since I’ve seen many photos featuring installations that were not there when we visited. So, if you’ve been there a while ago, it’s probably worth going again to see the new works. I would also like to point out that during our visit (in February), it was very cold inside. So in winter, I recommend keeping your outerwear on, even though there are lockers available at the entrance for extra belongings.

Interesting museum (exhibition space) around the loosely understood topic of light - the exhibition changes from time to time, I was there end of Dec 2025. It's a collection of multiple artists' artwork with 33 stations and offers varied views on our connection to world, life, nature and society through light. Some are amazing, others are a bit abstract, but generally it was worth the time and the money invested. Go early, it's significantly more enjoyable with fewer people around.

In simple statement- Wonderful mesmerizing and out of world. Various concepts with deep thoughts, emotions and understanding has been presented. Just sit and indulge yourself in various thoughts. This place is not for rushing and tick when visited. Spend some 2 to 3 hours to get yourself to relax and think differently from your daily routine. Two floors with some 50+ displays. Place is very cold and not heated enough. So based on weather dress accordingly. Lockers are available to store your items for free. Merchandise is available.

I went on a cold rainy day in November, so there wasn't a line. Overall I really enjoyed the experience. Think modern art made with light. Overall I spent about 2 hours there, and that was after going through the museum 2 times.
