About Menza Étterem és Kávézó

Easily the best meal my wife and I had in Budapest! Menza was fantastic from start to finish. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and their recommendations were spot on. The grilled duck breast with truffle-flavoured risotto is an absolute must! One of the best dishes we had on our trip. Menza was quite busy when we visited, so definitely book in advance. Great food, great service, and a lovely atmosphere!

If you’re visiting Budapest, this place is definitely worth a stop!! The duck steak with truffle risotto was the best risotto I’ve ever had. The truffle flavor was rich, and the seasoning was perfectly balanced. The goulash, a traditional Hungarian beef stew with a rich paprika-based broth, was warm and comforting. After eating so many rich and creamy dishes while traveling in Europe, it was exactly the kind of hearty meal I was craving. I would recommend making a reservation in advance, as this place can get busy. The prices are a little on the higher side, but the quality of the food made it completely worth it. Even while writing this review, I already want to come back and have it again🤣

We had a mixed experience at Menza. The frozen margarita was actually quite tasty, but it would have been nice if that had been mentioned when ordering, as it wasn’t what we expected. The starters were good and we enjoyed them. However, the cucumber salad was surprisingly sweet—much sweeter than we anticipated. Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment was the grilled chicken breast. It was extremely dry and seemed more boiled than grilled, making it difficult to eat and not particularly enjoyable. We politely mentioned the issue to the staff, as we felt it was important feedback. Overall, there were some good elements to the meal, but a few dishes could definitely be improved.

Google brought us here, and we were not disappointed. The restaurant has a lively yet comfortable atmosphere, making it a great place to enjoy a meal while exploring Budapest. The menu offers a good variety of dishes, including both traditional Hungarian favourites and more creative contemporary options. The garlic soup was particularly tasty and full of flavour. One of the highlights was the risotto with duck meat and strawberries — a combination that sounded unusual at first but turned out to be surprisingly refreshing and delicious. The sweetness of the strawberries complemented the duck very well. Overall, every dish we ordered was excellent. The ingredients were fresh, the presentation was appealing, and the flavours were well balanced. Service was efficient, and the dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish. A restaurant that lives up to its reputation and one that we would happily recommend to anyone visiting Budapest.

Menza is a lively and stylish restaurant with a lovely retro ambience that captures the charm of Budapest. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, although it can get quite crowded during peak dining hours, which is a testament to its popularity. We started with the Garlic Cream Soup and Beef Goulash Soup. The garlic soup was rich, creamy, and comforting, while the goulash soup delivered the hearty, traditional Hungarian flavours we were hoping for. For mains, we had the Duck Leg with Risotto and the Roast Beef with Onion Rings. The duck leg was tender and well-cooked, pairing nicely with the creamy risotto. The roast beef was flavourful and satisfying, complemented by crispy onion rings that added a nice texture to the dish. To accompany the meal, we enjoyed the Raspberry Iced Tea, Strawberry Iced Tea, and Ginger Cucumber Iced Tea. All three were refreshing and flavourful, making them perfect choices for a warm day. The fruit teas were especially enjoyable, offering a balance of sweetness and freshness. Overall, Menza offers good food, a great atmosphere, and friendly service. While the restaurant can be busy and a little noisy when crowded, it remains a wonderful place to experi
