Unfortunately, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in Budapest. I arrived at around 10:15 PM, while the restaurant was still open until 11:30 PM. As soon as I sat down, the server immediately asked what I wanted to order and started listing the few dishes that were still available. I politely asked for one minute to look at the menu. The server then warned me that the kitchen would close in 15 minutes and that the staff were preparing to leave, which felt unnecessarily rushed and unwelcoming. When I finally ordered, the server asked, “with cucumber salad?” I naturally assumed it was a side dish that came with the meal. At no point was it made clear that this was an additional charge. Only when I received the bill did I realize I had been charged extra for it. The food itself was disappointing. The chicken paprikash was bland and lacked flavor, and the overall dining experience did not justify the price. I ended up paying around 14,000 HUF (about CAD $52) for a meal that was far below expectations. Between the rushed service, the unclear upselling, and the mediocre food, I left feeling frustrated rather than satisfied. I would not return and cannot recommend th

A wonderful place to experience traditional Hungarian cuisine in Budapest! The food was delicious, with authentic local flavors and generous portions. Every dish was well prepared and full of taste. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. A lovely touch was that they brought coloring pages and crayons for our child, which kept them happily entertained throughout the meal. The atmosphere was fantastic, made even more special by the live music, creating a warm and memorable dining experience. The prices are a bit on the higher side, but the quality of the food, the excellent service, and the overall experience make it worth it. If you're looking for great traditional food, outstanding hospitality, and a cozy atmosphere, I highly recommend this restaurant. We would definitely visit again!

Very tasty food at a good price. We ordered beef tenderloins - a miracle that dissolved in the mouth and a cure for liver and beef. Nice service, although one of the waiters is quite specific. The decor is modest but in a traditional climate. Good location because very close to the basilica. In the evenings there is live music, unfortunately we missed it because we were at dinner at 17.30 and the musicians start playing from 18.30. We recommend and would love to go back there.

Our visit to this restaurant today had unfortunately mixed reviews. While I experienced absolutely delicious food, my husband did not get the same impression. I chose the beef tenderloin medallions with duck liver which were absolutely delicious served in a delicious paprika sauce. He ordered the pork tenderloins and from the beginning did not look as good as my dish,(6990 RUF vs 9990 RUF). That should not be a reason to serve meat that tasted partially defrosted, some plastic on top, giving the flavor of a cheap dish you could have gotten anywhere, sadly. My dish was superb and the wine we both ordered, the Hungarian Bull's Blood was delicious as well. The restaurant waiter gave us a complementary small glass of an after dinner drink made with pear that was delicious and a small glass of superb Hungarian Tokay chosen by them. The dessert was one of the best I've had in Budapest, a Hungarian sponge cake with cream and perfectly combined flavours of chocolate spices and nuts. The service was very good, there were not many patrons at that time. I would've given them 5 stars if my husband's food hadn't been so bad. A good restaurant makes good dishes regardless of price. We were very happy to discover this restaurant during our visit to Budapest. Among so many choices, this one truly stood out. The staff were warm, friendly and professional. The service was fast and the atmosphere was wonderful. The interior was beautiful and the live music performance with violin and cimbalom made the experience even more special. The food was delicious, authentic and fairly priced. Although it was a bit farther from our hotel than some other restaurants, it was absolutely worth the walk. The places closer to the center felt more touristy, while this restaurant offered much better value and a more genuine Hungarian dining experience. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Hungarian cuisine in Budapest.
