If you want to try the absolute best street food in Budapest, Retro Lángos is a must visit! The lángos here is incredibly delicious. For Turkish visitors, the easiest way to describe it is that the deep fried dough is very similar to our traditional 'pişi', but much larger and flatter. Interestingly, their dough contains potato, which gives it a perfectly crispy exterior while keeping the inside beautifully soft and fluffy. While the plain dough itself is tasty, the flavor reaches a whole new level once you start adding toppings. They offer a massive variety of options, ranging from the classic garlic, sour cream, and cheese to heavily loaded savory combinations. You are guaranteed to find something you love. Another huge plus is the venue itself. It is not just a simple street stand; they have a spacious indoor seating area with a full bar inside. Grabbing a cold beer or a drink to pair with your hot, freshly fried lángos makes for a perfect meal. Highly recommended.

I ordered the plain lángos because I wanted to see how it compares to the versions commonly found in Germany. As a non-Hungarian, I cannot speak to its absolute authenticity, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had no greasy aftertaste—the dough was light, slightly crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. Since it was the most basic version, it was seasoned only with garlic and salt, a combination that perfectly cut through the oiliness. The staff was friendly and the service was fast. A well-deserved five stars without hesitation.

Retro Lángos is a great place to try one of Hungary’s most iconic street foods. The lángos was freshly made, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and generously topped. The atmosphere is casual and authentic, and the service was quick despite the crowd. Portions are filling and offer good value for money. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is that the food felt a bit heavy and oily, which is expected with traditional lángos but may not suit everyone. Overall, a fun spot to experience classic Hungarian street food while visiting Budapest.

We came on a Saturday around noon and only had to wait about 5 minutes for 3 Lángos. It was a great taste of the Hungarian dish! I would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a good meal. Priced really well, and absolutely delicious!

If you are visiting Budapest, you absolutely have to try Retro Lángos! They serve some of the best traditional Hungarian lángos in the city. The dough is perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with generous toppings like sour cream and garlic. The outdoor seating area has a great vibe, though it can get quite busy during peak hours. Well worth the visit!
