This is my second time in Budapest. Last time I went to a luxyry restaurant with traditional food and I was very disappointed. This time I arrived after 20.00, grabbed a shower and went out because I was travelling and haven't eaten whole day. See...I am from Bulgaria, from a small village and deep down I always crave all those meals my grandmother was preparing...with vegetables from the garden and meet from our animals...made in a super old stove, which used to smell funny. My point is...I know a real food when I taste it. So I was close to St. Stefan and I simply satvin the first place I saw, which looked like they would have proper food. Cosy tables outside...I am still sitting here finishing my drink and enjoying the diversity of tourists and locals passing. The lady which brought me the menu was so smiley and warm...it felt nice. Then I ordered. I almost never order soups... simply...noone can make them like I am used to...but I decided to tryvthe goulash...their signature one with chicken and local type of bread...and a lemonade. The goulash was in a pot.... portion for 2 if you ask me....the lemonade was in so big glass, I needed 2 hands to properly lift it when it was full

I have been to Bazilika and my experience there made my night! First, I arrived a few minutes after closing the kitchen, but the chef was so kind to make an exception and prepare a Langos with Goulash for me. Not only that, but he offered me a lovey dessert as gift. This gesture of kindness really made me happy! I will always remember it! The food was beyond my expectations! Food was tasty and made me feel home. The goulash was like it was made at a home not at a restaurant and the dessert was something unique and tasty. I thank again the restaurant staff and the chef for their hospitality, great food and kindness! You are really good people ❤️

EDIT: I just found out they charged 40,000 Ft (about $130 USD) for 2 entrees and 2 desserts. The paprikash alone was $50 USD. They sneakily added 15% and still asked for a minimum additional 10% tip while also asking for Google review. So here I am leaving the review. (Original) Great food and excellent service. Servers were super nice and gave us free shots in the end (egé!) Paprikash was smaller than the photo but that combined with the schnitzel was enough for 3 people.

I'm very conflicted in this review. I usually don't leave negative reviews as I know it's still someone's livelihood. However, because I was asked by the restaurant to leave a review I can only be honest in sharing my actual experience. I'm hoping that this review will be a warning and caution to other tourists who are being pursuaded by the high but manipulated Google Reviews. I also hope that the restaurant owners and operators read this review and improve their practices so that they can stay in business. While I enjoyed the food, the portions are super small for the price. I would classify the food to be home style cooking but they are charging fine dining prices. At fine dining prices I would expect impeccable service, upscale decor, beautiful and impeccable presentation of the food, and excellent taste. Of those 4 things, this restaurant met none. FOOD Taste - The food was tasty but not fine dining quality. Portion Size - The portions are small. They do not look as big as the pictures make them out to be on the menu. They even mentioned it's a shareable serving and it's not. SERVICE - Very cordial. - They offered a free shot of alcohol with orange juice as a chaser (Wow,

May 2026 5* Visited the place with friends to eat traditional Hungarian food. The place is nice and Zaza is really good server. Food is good and Langosh (Hungarian bread) is delicious. There are plenty of vegetarian options at this place. Paprika is not spicy at all so you should enjoy it. Here is my food list: - Bribacsa Vegetable soup ***** - Margarita Langosh ***** - Trappist cheese and sour cream Langosh **** Soup was not spicy so you can ask for the spicy one. The atmosphere is good and service is great.
