Very disappointing customer service experience. I contacted the bank regarding an issue with my card and needed to order a replacement to my new address. Instead of helping, I was told that the video call service is only available for Hungarian customers. As a foreign customer, this feels unfair and exclusionary, especially since many non-Hungarians use this bank. Because of this limitation, I’m currently unable to access or use my own money. I hope the bank improves its support system and ensures equal access to all customers, regardless of nationality.

Didn't open an account to me discriminating on nationality (I'm Russian), even though I am a Hungarian resident.

Awful experience and service After 2 weeks of "submiting" my documents to HQ, they asked me to comeback to give me the information about my account opening. When I came back the only info they had was that it was denied..... Why do they have to make me go the branch if the info is that they denied my process? Why it was denied? All my docs are in order and up to date. Nobody gives me information.

Scariest bank ever. Total incompetence of the bank staff. Especially Kerekes Chaba. He spent 2 hours on my problem and still did not solve it. In general, I would not advise anyone to open an account here because to get your own money out of your own account, you have to put up with their incompetence.

My preferred choice for banking in Hungary. They are independent and small (relative to the competition) but have all the core banking features one would need. Are they the quickest to process a queue? Maybe not, but in return they actually listen to people and are eager to help. I think it’s a good trade off. It would be unreasonable to compare them to the state-owned bigger banks but from all the banks, they are the ones who actually contribute back to society in a meaningful way: As a customer you get to decide which NGO to benefit from the profits they make on your account each year. (And I had confirmed it with some of the NGOs actually) I can’t speak for the foreign customers as I’m a Hungarian native. As an IT professional myself, I have to say that they used to be be a little slow to respond to the technological competition (the introduction of Apple Pay/Google Pay comes to mind) but if you put it all into perspective, they have a good focus and so they deserve a good rating. I had been a customer for 12+ years already and I’m convinced that MagNet is the right place to put my money.
