About Baltazár Grill Restaurant in the Buda Castle

🇬🇧 Baltazár is the lobby of Buda Castle, or as we like to call it, our shared living room. With its beautiful terrace and effortlessly bohemian interior, it draws you in from the very first moment.

We’re your favorite neighbor — the one you drop by for a laid-back dinner or just a few glasses of wine.

Serious cuts, fresh salads, and carefully curated wines from both local and international cellars.

Really nice food, Buda castle area. Quality of the food and service was excellent. Just remember they automatically add a 15% service charge to your bill and when you come to pay, present you with the option to tip. Would have expected it to be one or the other but not both. To be clear the tipping is optional, but when presented with the tipping percentages on the card machine you do feel somewhat obliged to tip. Also they charged me for tap water which is free in the UK. The soup and desert and one 0.4l beer cost £37. The quality of the food and service and location, little expensive but not excessive.

After visiting Fisherman’s Bastion, we were looking for a cozy place to relax and enjoy a great meal, and Batazár was the perfect choice. The restaurant has a warm, intimate atmosphere that makes you want to linger. The food was excellent, and everything we ordered was beautifully prepared. We especially enjoyed the half chicken, which was flavorful, tender, and perfectly cooked. The spritz cocktails were refreshing and paired wonderfully with the meal. What truly made our experience exceptional was the service. Bogi and Virág were outstanding—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They took the time to recommend cocktails and dishes based on our preferences, and every suggestion was spot on. Their hospitality made us feel like valued guests rather than just customers. If you’re exploring the Castle District or visiting Fisherman’s Bastion, I highly recommend stopping at Batazár. Between the delicious food, excellent cocktails, charming atmosphere, and outstanding service, it was one of our favorite dining experiences in Budapest. We’ll definitely return the next time we’re in the city.

I visited Baltazár Grill Restaurant for lunch while exploring the Buda Castle area and enjoyed the experience overall. The restaurant is located in a pleasant, quiet part of the city just a short walk from Buda Castle, making it a great place to take a break from sightseeing. I ordered the pork ribs, which were tender, flavourful, and cooked perfectly. The food was definitely the highlight of the meal. The service was satisfactory, although it wasn’t particularly attentive and felt a little less engaged than at some other restaurants I visited in Budapest. Prices were also higher than average for the city, but that is perhaps to be expected given the location and quality of the food. Overall, a good choice if you’re looking for a quality meal near Buda Castle, especially if you’re a fan of well-prepared grilled meats.

Nice food. Super outside seating.view og the nearby square. Close to the touristy fishermans bastion but nice and quiet. Try the big chocolate cake - it is big!

Tucked away from the typical tourist traps, this spot offers a fantastic location with a lovely view. However, the prices are quite high considering the experience; I ordered the dirty fries, but they lacked visual appeal and were unfortunately way too salty to enjoy. It’s a nice atmosphere, but the food quality didn't quite justify the cost.
