the ambience of the place is great, esp in the summer sitting on the patio. the interior is also quite cozy and nice. the food is ok, a bit overpriced for how it tastes imo, (3.9 star for food? but tbh I think most bp food spots are 3.7 so above avg) but their kaiserschamrrn is 10/10 to share with the table and end the meal on. still is a perfect place to get together with friends for a meal.

A fantastic example of a restaurant that has gone through many iterations through the decades and has now absolutely found its stride. It boasts a delicious selection on every part of the menu and the specials are always seasonal delicious and come with a little twist. There’s nothing pretentious about this place, it’s very warm, welcoming and slightly upscale. It does this better than so many of the pretenders in Budapest. Really truly delicious European bistro fare, with a tip of the cap to some Hungarian specialties. Packaged in a very warm atmosphere to enjoy. Some highlights are the venison steak and the duck leg confit. Excellent, well prepared cocktails, but by no means inexpensive.

One of our go to restaurants whenever we are in Budapest. The dishes are consistently of high quality, modern European with a touch of local Hungarian flare. I especially love the garden salad and iced cocktails. The atmosphere is delightful, contemporary but still reminiscent of the old world charm of the 1960s-80s. In summer, we love sitting on the patio. The staff are always attentive and cheerful. A place to return to again and again!

The design at Szép Ilona is absolutely gorgeous, perfectly complementing their mouth-watering menu. I highly recommend trying the borókás szarvasgerinc and the vadas, though the delicious superfood salad is a fantastic choice if you prefer a healthier option. The waiters are incredibly kind and attentive, paying special attention to my gluten intolerance to ensure a safe dining experience. It is also very helpful that the menu has every allergen clearly labeled for complete peace of mind. This restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking for a wonderful atmosphere paired with inclusive and thoughtful service 10/10❤️

This place has an amazing atmosphere, and the food never disappoints. I had the confit duck leg, and we also tried the salad and vegan bowl, all of which were exceptionally well-prepared. The service was outstanding—friendly and attentive. The warm colors, lighting, and music create a perfect ambiance for an enjoyable meal. Unfortunately, the restrooms are not wheelchair accessible, and the parking is somewhat challenging, which are the only downside. Otherwise, it’s a five-star experience. Highly recommended!
