Budapest 53 Posta

The lady with the interesting haircut at the counter didn’t even say hello back, which I wouldn’t normally mind as I don’t expect workers to be in a great mood every day. However, as soon as I arrived with a good amount of letters I want to send, she started muttering something and then began talking to her colleague, completely ignoring me. She didn’t ask how I wanted my letters to be sent, which I could have overlooked as well. What I cannot accept is the bad attitude, talking about people while they stand right there in front of you. I made sure to mention her bad attitude at the end of the service, and she clearly didn’t appreciate the feedback (And I encourage everyone to not let disrespect slide because some people think everything is permitted clearly). If you don’t want to work with customers, then maybe this isn’t the right job someone else would gladly do it with basic professionalism and respect.

The package was not delivered to my address; instead, I was asked by email to collect it at the post office. When I went there, a female staff member saw my ID and address card, repeatedly said something in Hungarian (such as “nem utca”), and refused to use translation software. After several people queued behind me, she finally brought out my package. My questions: 1. Why was the package not delivered to my address? 2. Why did the staff lady repeat a phrase in Hungarian and refuse to use translation software? In other post offices and government offices, people have been very nice and helpful. This is the first time I have encountered someone like this. 3. Since I had proof of identity and the email notification, why was there such a long delay before I received my package? 4. I suspect she meant that the address on my ID and address card did not match this post office’s service area. However, my office is located here—am I not allowed to receive a package at an address different from the one on my ID and address card? I believe showing ID and the email should be enough to collect a package without unnecessary delay. I hope others will not face the same issue.

No issues at all. Sent 3 postcards back to the uk. Lady was lovely and even changed some coins into notes as we were basically, clueless!! I would definitely use this post office again.

Very nice, speaks English. Quick and easy! So much better than the Italian postal service. Only down side is they only provide large boxes for parcels.

Quick and easy service, ticketed wait. There weren’t many people when I went so I got done in about 7 minutes - the lady who served me didn’t speak English but I was able to get what I needed done. International postage seems to be on the higher end (about 885HUF per stamp but this was mailing to the USA). Very roomy - chairs and tables along the side.
