Beautiful bridge during the day or night. It was rebuilt after the Germans destroyed it when they left during World War II. Several tour busses cross it every day.

A visit to this river bank of the Danube is a must when in Budapest. It's hard not to think about what atrocities took place in this location and the suffering of the people. It's so tragic this happened not that long ago. Take time to reflect when you visit.

Very elegant bridge, beautiful at night and day with panoramic views of the city. Great for boat watching or for taking pictures of Buda castle, the Citadel, the parliament or any other historic building that lies close to the shore of the Danube. Walked this bridge many times in my stay here at Budapest.

One of the most beautiful bridges from Budapest! Worth seeing it and walking on it, if you visit Budapest!

Where the Danube is narrowest in Budapest—the river is only 290 meters wide here—it is spanned by the Elisabeth Bridge (Erzsébet híd). The bridge is named after one of the most famous queens of all time: Empress/Queen Elisabeth, better known as "Sisi". Construction of the bridge began in 1898, the year she was assassinated, and was completed in 1903. In 1945, the retreating Germans destroyed the bridge, which was not replaced until between 1961 and 194 by a modern bridge designed by Pál Sávoly. It is the only rebuilt bridge to be given a modern appearance.
