Restaurants in Hungary usually open from around 11:00 until about 22:00, while bars and ruin bars stay open much later from Thursday to Saturday. On weekdays many places serve a napi menü, a fixed-price lunch of soup and a main course, typically from 11:00 to 15:00. Book a table for Friday and Saturday evenings and public holidays. Many bills already include a service charge (usually 10–15%); if not, a tip of around 10% is customary but never compulsory. Many restaurants also accept the SZÉP card, the employer-funded leisure card. In restaurants the bill usually comes only when you ask for it; check whether a service charge is already included before adding a tip. If you are planning a birthday or another celebration, ask about a private room and a set menu.
According to Google, Halászbástya Étterem keeps these hours: daily, 12:00–24:00. It is open seven days a week. It opens on Sunday too, as many restaurants and cafés in Hungary do. Really poor service. Staff were very quick and rude, and honestly seemed to be very confused at running food and drink even though the place was quite quiet when we were there. Ordered the burger and an extra side of chips, to which the extra side of chips never came. Food got to us before our drinks, but the burger and chips were cold, wet and hard in texture. Burger was practically inedible, dripping in sauce and the meat was severely underdone (I don’t mind a little pink but with ground beef it’s just not safe to be cooked that way.) When the drinks did arrive I found them to be way too sweet and syrupy (I ordered a spritz), to the point where I didn’t finish it to even half way. Food was only half eaten, but really it only got ate by the person who had it because they were starving by that point during the day. In total for one burger and three drinks it came to around €50, which is shockingly overpriced. Don’t come here, there’s plenty of nicer areas around the castle district with nicer food and service. I work in hospitality too and get how hard it can be sometimes in it, but this place was really not worth it considering the comparison between how much you spend and the qua

We would like to thank the entire team at Halászbástya Restaurant for creating such an unforgettable dining experience. Before our visit, we requested a window table online, and they graciously seated us with a breathtaking view of the Parliament. It was the perfect setting for a memorable evening. We ordered two different tasting menus. One was the pre-selected Halászbástya menu with expertly paired wines for each course, and the other allowed us to choose each course individually. You really can’t go wrong with either option. Every dish was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was magical, with beautiful piano music creating the perfect ambiance throughout the evening. I couldn’t tell whether it was live because of where we were seated, but it made the experience even more elegant and enjoyable. What truly made the evening exceptional was the outstanding service. David and the entire staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for, creating memories we’ll cherish for a long time. Thank you, David and the whole team. Well done! We highly recommend Halászbástya Restaurant to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience in Bu

An ideal location for a quick bite to eat among the bustle of Fisherman’s Bastion. While there are plenty of places to eat around this iconic location, my travel companion and I only wanted a quick snack for lunch rather than a sit down meal. We stumbled across Halászbástya Étterem offering not only a sit down option with beautiful views and well presented food, but a takeaway option of freshly baked mini pizzas and a range of drinks. This was probably one of the best lunch decisions on our trip to Budapest, as the pizzas were delicious. We ordered a spicy pizza and a ham one, along with a lemonade and an salted caramel milkshake with a shot of Baileys. The pizzas were hot, perfectly cooked and had that ideal ‘fresh out a pizza oven’ taste. The milkshake was thick, substantial and had just the right balance of flavours so that the Baileys didn’t overwhelm.

Exceptional, I have one of the best service, the best food, the best atmosphere! They give us good music with the pianist, they give us pretty show with the cocktails, they give us the best presentation with the plate. The food was exquisite ! I took tartare beef, it was an explosion of flavor. Guys ! I recommend you all to eat there for this beautiful experience 😋.

Excellent experience from start to finish. The food is refined, with elegant plating and very well-balanced flavors—tender, juicy meat, delicate sauces, and thoughtful combinations. The burger is surprisingly high-quality, and the reinterpreted traditional dishes are truly impressive. The soup was rich and flavorful, perfect for a colder day. The view is stunning, and the atmosphere invites you to slow down and truly enjoy your meal. The service is professional and attentive. A place you visit for the food—and return for the experience.
