To say this was worth the inconvenience of getting physical cash is an understatement of a lifetime. This was an incredible experience, being able to just be in a dark, underground cave like this. I especially recommend avoiding the temptation to use the flashlight in dark sections and just letting the experience enthrall you. Along the way you get neat statues of historical Hungarian kings and queens that are well done, and then at the very end there's a screening of a silent film. Amazing, especially in the hot summer when the dank cold will feel refreshing from the insane heat. 11/10

The Labyrinth-Budapest When visiting Budapest, we highly recommend the Labyrinth. This former prehistoric shelter has been used as a fortress for the Ottomans, a prison, a wine cellar, a World War Two bomb shelter, and military bunkers. Dracula, Vlad the Impaler, was imprisoned in this complex, adding to its spookiness. Upon arrival, you descend 52 feet to the entrance. The fee, at the time of this writing, was €15.00. There is very good signage there that explains the tunnels and a bit of history. There is also a map of the tunnel complex. It is dark and damp in the tunnels, so be sure to wear some sturdy shoes. Wandering through the nooks and crannies, you will see beautiful Gothic and Renaissance sculptures, as well as Ottoman tombstones. Wax figures behind bars represent scenes from various famous historical figures. At one time, there was an entire collecting of wax figures, but the cave’s high humidity caused tremendous damage to them. Going forward, you enter what I would call the Hall of Kings. Busts of many, if not all, of Hungary’s Kings are in here with some of the country’s conquerors. Going forward, it got foggy and very eerie. We entered a nook that had a sarcophagus

amazing place, it’s cold and humid inside, so better take something to warm you up. the history presentation is amazing and you feel like you are in a horror movie (no jumpscares though) it contains history about all the hungarian emperors and even about Dracula (Vlad Tepes) unfortunately, the smoke machine had way too much smoke in the Dracula side and it was hard to see anything (would be nice to be taken care of) the atmosphere, dark places, statues and endless roads make this place a place to visit in your budapest expedition!!

Its interesting but be careful - basically it’s at your own risk. Definitely there are safety issues with the experience and no staff to support you if something happen. At some point we didn’t see absolutely anything because is was full of fake smoke (and remember it is an underground maze) it’s not like you can go to the emergency. No instructions and wet slippery surfaces. So you can get some fun but if something goes wrong it’s up to you. Not recommended if you get panicked, overwhelm of darkness, if you are claustrophobic. Think twice before spending the cost of the entrance (15 euros per person, cash only)

If you are a history/culture fanatic, then you will LOVE the Labyrinth in Buda. It has so many twists and turns (don’t worry, you don’t get lost) and lots of the country’s historical facts written on the walls. It can get pretty dark and foggy down there so kids might get scared, but I had an amazing time!! Would recommend to anyone visiting Buda. I also believe you do have to pay cash to enter so I would make sure you have some before trying to go!
