Had a wonderful traditional Hungarian meal here! We have tried multiple Hungarian restaurants in the city and this one was by far the best!! Such a cool old building which great ambience and loved the Gypsy music, which started at 7pm. Our waiter Adam was very kind, knowledgeable, and even gave us palinka to try on the house! We got the goulash to start which was tender and flavorful and the spicy paste to add in was AMAZING. Then the chicken paprikash was tender and the sauce delicious, the lescos potato tomato stew was also very good and the sides of pickles and vegetables paired perfectly. Tried multiple different Hungarian wines and all were delicious. Ended the night with a traditional dumpling dessert that was also fantastic. I highly recommend this spot for a Hungarian traditional meal and I already can’t wait to come back!

Came from states to enjoy authentic Hungarian cuisine. Was recommended by a local and it did not disappoint. Reservations are recommended, but they were able to squeeze us in. The food was fresh and delicious. Drinks were unique and so good. The gypsy band add a special ambiance to it all. No wonder it has been open since 1831! Thanks to Gabor and the rest of the staff for a truly great night!

From the very first moment we walked in, we were welcomed with so much warmth and attention to detail. I had mentioned in the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday, and at the end they surprised us with a beautiful dessert and sparkler gesture that made the evening feel truly special. The atmosphere was absolutely magical — the live traditional gypsy/Hungarian music in the background created such an authentic and emotional vibe. The food was exceptional from start to finish. I especially recommend the chicken soup, which instantly brings back childhood memories for anyone raised in Eastern Europe — comforting, rich and full of flavor. For the main course, I personally followed the waiter’s recommendation and chose the goose leg with mashed potatoes and red cabbage/beetroot, and it was simply perfect. Tender meat, incredible sauce, and everything cooked to perfection. The other dish was the traditional goulash with noodles. One of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve had in Budapest. Highly recommended if you want authentic Hungarian food, beautiful atmosphere and genuinely attentive service.

It was great having lunch at the oldest Hungarian restaurant in Budapest. Our server was very helpful and courteous. I had the baked goose leg - delicious! Also had the chicken paprikash, equally as tasty. We had a great time visiting! Thank you! 🙏🏼

Százéves Restaurant is the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re experiencing the old soul of Budapest. The atmosphere is warm, traditional, and full of history — you can genuinely feel the charm of a restaurant that has been around since 1831. The interior feels cozy and classic, with soft lighting and an authentic Hungarian vibe that makes the whole dining experience memorable. We ordered the traditional Hungarian goulash soup, and it was absolutely comforting after a long day walking around the city. The broth was rich and flavorful, with tender beef, soft potatoes, and a deep paprika flavor that tasted authentic without being too heavy. Served in a rustic metal pot, it felt homemade in the best possible way. The staff were welcoming and patient, even with tourists unfamiliar with Hungarian dishes. Service was relaxed but attentive, allowing us to truly enjoy the atmosphere and food at our own pace. If you want a restaurant in Budapest that feels historic, authentic, and genuinely delicious rather than overly touristy, this place is definitely worth visiting. A perfect spot for traditional Hungarian comfort food near the heart of the city.
